One day, we will have a strong network of both male and female leaders, that will bring Malaysia to the next stage as we bounce back from the pandemic. We will define what it is to be the ‘keluarga Malaysia’, with the future ready 2500 female leaders who are dynamic, agile, innovative, and knowledgeable. One day, Malaysia will be a regional powerhouse with its high female labour participation rate and high number of capable female leaders both professionally and politically. That was the essence of the Women Leadership Foundation (WLF) launch of Mentorship and Sponsorship Initiative with the theme - Unleashing the Power of Leadership. Pn. lham Sunhaji was the host and serve as one of the moderators for the event to promote the women's agenda, which was initiated and led by YBhg. Datuk Zunaidah Idris, championed by YBhg. Datuk (Dr.) Hafsah Hashim, and supported by Pn. Khairiyah Md Adnan Adnan. The virtual event began with opening remarks from YBhg. Datuk (Dr.) Hafsah Hashim and the event was graced by the presence of YBhg. Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Munir Abdul Majid as our keynote speaker. YBhg. Tan Sri who was the founder of Securities Commission, spoke on the needs for mentors and sponsors to be the ‘beacon of lights’ and ‘the nation’s saviour’s that elevate the growth of future leaders, especially women leaders as we navigate the ever-increasing uncertain terrain. In the first Panel Session 1 titled Leadership of the 21st Century- Mentoring and Sponsoring Your Legacy, the participants shared the strategy on how to accelerate leadership advancement by leveraging on the knowledge and lessons learned from mentors and sponsors. The session was brilliantly moderated by Ruzi Rani Ajith, CEO of CGS CIMB alongside with distinguished personalities such as YBhg. Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar (Chairman of Bursa Malaysia), YBhg. Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaludin (Group Managing Director & CEO of Lembaga Tabung Haji), Pn. Emeliana Rice-Oxley (Vice President Exploration, Upstream, PETRONAS) and Pn. Nik Amlizan Mohamed (CEO of KWAP). Pn. Ilham Sunhaji moderated the Panel Session 2 with the title ‘People Purpose and Passion – The Pathway to Success’. The session aimed to share the strategy from the entrepreneurship lens on the approach to develop, and align future talents as mentors & sponsors, that will subsequently drive the bottom line of the company. The session featured CEOs, Founders, and Managing Directors of their respective companies: YBhg.Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin (Group Managing Director, Mydin Mohamed Holdings), YBhg. Dato' Hazimah Zainuddin (Group & Managing Director, Hyrax Oil), and Madam Lee Pang (Executive Director, Bodibasixs Manufacturing). The session ended with the closing remarks by non-other that YBhg. Datuk Zunaidah Idris, Chairman of Leadership Pillar under the Women Leadership Foundation. Congratulations to the mentees who came from C-suite positions and executive leadership. We look forward to seeing them all reach the pinnacle of corporate and business success!
